Default ponderings on rollkur etc

Ok, I would like to start a discussion and I would ask that each person who chooses to be involved remember that I have no stance either way on this training method I am merely pondering some issues that have popped inexplicabley into my head.

I would hope that vets, nurses doctors and riders wil see this and comment.

Firstly please take the time to read this brief true story about me.

About 15 years ago i was mad keen into Power Lifting, as a result i was training sometimes 2 times a day and i worked for a Big Gym in the ACT. At the height of my obsession with this sport i was able to bench press more than my wieght and equal to the ACT record, I was also very good at the dead lift. Anyhow some of the training that i would use dincluded, standing on a box with 60kg bar and doing toe touching but extending the bend past my feet - knees straight(the reason for the box) then standing up without bending my knees, this would put maximum pressure on one joint at the base of my spine, but also built up the most incedible lower back strength and definition, in addition there was an aparatus that you sort of laid on with your upper body hanging out and then you would hyper extend the back arching upwards...holding a 20kg plate) over 200 situps in a session with a 20kg plate on my chest, i could standing lity more weight than alot of the boys, my measurements were smaller than i am today,( in fact my lifting belt today does not fit on my thigh let alone get anywhere near my waist, those of you who know me, and i weighed 53 kg ( i currently weigh 66 and stand 5.6) I was warned that i might hurt myself, but i'll be honest my back was never better i never had a problem as the muslces were soo strong.

I gave up as i injured myself during a squat session allowing 75 kg to roll up onto my kneck, causing massive nerve damage ( my spotter was perving at a g string)

I was apparently doing exercises that were not good for me anatomically(sp) but i was stronger for them??? will i suffer in years to come ..I dont know..

I ponder this when we talk bout Hyper flexing, I ponder what our Gymnasts do what ballet dancers do...(and I know we as humans do this with our own mind in control and a horse does not have control.)

I ponder that if the Giraffe had not needed to reach for food his neck would not have evolved..

I ponder that man should ot really walk upright but we do?

I ponder that maybe it is not as bad as it seems?

I am intersted in peoples thoughts but I ask that we avoid yelling at each other that we debate and learn, that we keep our minds open

Stay cool
