Default What do you look for in the potential buyer

I had a conversation today with the woman who used to train one of my OTT TB's when he was racing. We got to the topic of how some of her retired horses who were sold/given away ended up with undesirable owners who mistreated or didn't look after them.

Anyway as a point of discussion, I was just wondering what people who sell or have sold horses in the past look for in the potential buyer to ensure their horses will end up in a good home?
